Causes of root canal disease
The pulp chamber reacts acutely to stimuli when the inflammatory process begins. The cause of damage to the pulp and canals – progressive carious disease. In this case, the enamel is destroyed and harmful microorganisms enter the dentin. Then the bacteria affect the pulp and begin to actively multiply in this cavity.
At this stage, painful symptoms increase: the tooth reacts to cold and hot, painful sensations may appear when biting, etc. Most likely, removal of the inflamed nerve will be required.
Prevention and treatment
Treatment of canals is a procedure that involves cleaning them from pathogens. Such therapy achieves several goals at the same time:
- fighting bacteria and preventing their spread;
- depulpation;
- root canal filling.
The most common cause of inflammation is complicated caries. The soft tissue inside the tooth becomes inflamed and the infectious process spreads further. Periodontitis, cysts and pulp necrosis occur with advanced caries or pulpitis. These cases also require therapy. This is why it is so important to periodically visit a dentist who diagnoses the initial stages in time to avoid complications.
