Professional bone grafting: trust only experienced specialists
Bone grafting is one of the most complex procedures in dentistry. That’s why it should only be performed by professionals with extensive experience and the necessary advanced equipment. At Sapphire Dental Clinic, our specialists possess both.
What is bone grafting?
The main purpose of the procedure is to restore bone tissue before implant placement and subsequent placement of a denture. Most often, the procedure is required after a tooth has been missing for a long period of time, which entails a reduction in chewing loads. As a result, the volume of bone tissue gradually decreases, making it impossible to place an implant. To ensure reliable fixation of the post in the jaw, bone augmentation surgery is performed.
Indications for bone grafting
The main reason for the operation is a clinical situation that precludes the possibility of dental implantation. Despite the high load-bearing capacity and small size of modern implants, their implantation requires certain parameters of the jawbone. The main condition is a sufficient volume of bone tissue, which allows to securely fix the implant in the jaw. The missing volume is increased with the help of plastics.
There are several surgical options available:
- After tooth extraction. Also recommended following trauma.
- Simultaneously with implant placement – effective if no more than 3 months have passed since tooth loss or extraction.
- Sinus lift – used in cases of insufficient bone height, bone atrophy, or tooth loss due to trauma.
- With cyst removal – involves simultaneous removal of pathological tissue.
- According to the Khoury technique – recommended in cases of severe alveolar ridge atrophy, jaw trauma, or specific anatomical conditions.
- Bone block grafting.
The choice of a specific technique depends on the clinical picture, anatomical features and health condition of the patient. At Sapphire Dental Clinic, highly qualified dental surgeons use innovative technologies and only high-quality materials when performing osteoplasty.
